Strange things were afoot The Beaverton Courts. The 4 courts we thought we had reserved for 8 pm were only 3 courts. Something had to give. 3 of the games at 8 involved teams on double headers that night. Only 1 game had the potential to be pushed back to 9.... & That's What She Set & Genensets stepped up! Even thought it was not ideal, these teams bit the bullet and stayed until 9. Courtney Bartha, in particular, REALLY stood out. She had to be at work at 5:15 am the next day for her job as nurse but she still sacrificed to make things. Thank you to Courtney Bartha, as well as both teams. Your flexibility made the most out of a difficult situation!
Tim Esch is the man. Last week he went balls out barreling into the bleachers trying to play an errant ball. This week he was sidelined with an shin injury because of last week's Derek Jeter-like play... but he still found a way to contribute. When we came in at 8 pm tonight, the nets, usually set to the right height, were set a little low so we had to raise all 3 nets before the start of play. Tim Esch stepped up! He helped me raise all 3 nets to the correct height, cutting the time it took in half and letting us start (well) less late than we would have otherwise. Thanks a lot, Tim. You are this week's Player of the Week even though you didn't even suit up!
