Normally, exposing one's "handle and spout" during league bowling would be worthy of a call to the cops. But on this night, it brought applause and laughter. Before attempting his third spare in a row, the Lickety Splits' Jason Brown was offered a challenge. Instead of the normal, single prize coupon for picking up his third spare in as many frames, I offered him THREE tickets. However, if he missed the spare he would be forced to sing the popular children's tune "I'm a Little Teapot." Low and behold, the nervous Jason, missed the single pin and took center stage on the approach between lanes three and four. He held up his end of the bargain, sang loud enough for all Underdog bowlers to hear, and even did the tipping motion at the end of the song. For being such a good sport, he received one prize coupon for his efforts and I've also chosen him as this week's POTW.
It was a difficult decision selecting a theme night winner, so I decided to choose three winners instead of just one. Steve Urkel, Napoleon Dynamite and Screech Powers had nothing on these three guys. Ryan Mottau's (OVER THE LINE) ginormous bow tie, coupled with his high-water pants and nerdy laugh (or was that his real laugh?) made him a shoe-in for Nerd Week. Chris Entels (HOLLYWOOD REJECTS) pocket protector and taped glasses also made him an easy pick. Jeff Myers (WE NEED BUMPERS) had a pocket full of pens, taped glasses and a Napoleon Dynamite wig that would have made Kip and Uncle Rico do a double take. Rumor has it that the wig may make another appearance, as it seemed to be the key to good bowling: Jeff scored a 193 and 187 while sporting his winning outfit. Thanks to all who participated in Nerd Night!
