The #1 team going into the final night of bowling, Ebowla, faced a unique challenge. Three core members were somewhere far far away. Conventional wisdom would say that the chances of Ebowla upholding the #1 seed could be in doubt.
In the first round, Ebowla faced a hearty Special Math Club team that has gotten used to making quick work of their early round match-up. Historically you just don't see SMC in the 3rd place game. Well take that convention and history... Ebowla handed the Mathlings a 1-way ticket to the consolation game by a slim 5 pins.
In the other opening match, Portland Bowling Rejects or "PBR" faced off against upstart People's Republic of Whoop Ass. Despite their best efforts to distract their opponent w/ score sheet shenanigans, Whoop Ass fell to a more experienced PBR team that came donned in football stars of yesteryear jerseys.
That led us to an epic final match between PBR and Ebowla. #1 vs #2 seeds, former champs vs former champs, football legends vs African virus. So close was this match that not even the Special Mathers could accurately calculate the winner, but when it was all said and done, PBRs tag team of Kris and Brian and their matching 185s could not withstand the "virus".
Great season to all, on to Spring!
Melanie and Megen were the difference makers in the final match-up with PBR in the championship. Outscoring the PBR ladies by 20, they made up the entire margin of victory and showed the bowling world that Ebowla is so much more than just a deadly virus.
Happy Birthday, Brian. If your b-day wish was for serious bowling skills, I think you got it. A 199 for your first game AND delicious choco-peanut butter brownies? Happy Birthday, indeed.
