The Rose City Park league was full of surprises on Sunday. After being unable to play for three weeks due to weather, the championship was finally decided.
The first match up had Indy team Sons of Pitches taking on We Don't Stop At Third. It was a tight contest until the top of the seventh inning when S.O.P. scored seven runs, making the final score 17-11, moving them to the final game.
In the second match up we saw Base Invaders taking on the top seeded Topdeckers. The Invaders came out swinging with a six run 1st inning and never gave up the lead, winning 17-11.
The championship game between Base Invaders and Sons of Pitches was tight the entire way. S.O.P scored five runs in the 2nd inning only to be countered by the Invaders' five runs in the top of the 3rd. The game sat 8-8 in the bottom of the seventh. After a scoreless top half of the eighth S.O.P's Sean Kelley saw his opportunity and hit a walk off home run. It was a thriller at Glenhaven.
With an unorthodox pitching style and switch hitting at the plate, Jim led the Sons of Pitches to a big win on Sunday. His pitching kept the opposing offense at bay and his hitting was a cayalyst for a potent Sons of Pitches offense. Just an great day for Mr. Ross.
