In a spirit-filled season at Valley Lanes the TEA Mascots opened up their first season with Underdog in style with a championship trophy (in the form of wristbands of course)! The championship game featured two teams with determination as The Bowling Stones tried their hardest but came up just short to the TEAM Mascots massive scoring.
In their semi-final against King Pins they showed everyone that they were here to play with a whopping 635 first game! You know things are going your way when you have to drop a 165 as one of your low scores. King Pins, let by Jeff and Devin, tried their best to keep up but it was just too much.
In the other semi-final game, skull ball Society rocked the toga's against The Bowling Stones but the Stones had their own toga's and with the Greek bowling gods looking on, the Stones pulled out the victory. Casey was back to his 200 game ways and Erik finally decided to show up as well!
In the 9-pin no-tap competition the Suburban Strikers came out rocking with a 4-1 lead in no-tap coupons. Thinking they had the game in the bag they opted for a prize coupon half-way through the second game instead of a no-tap coupon. DTB decided that was the time to make their move so the rallied the troops and pulled out a team five spares in a row to move them into striking position. They did what they could and ended up tying the no-tap score at 6-6. In a deadlock we went to the old standby tiebreaker rules...of ro-sham-bo! Tonight we did best of three and Suburban Strikers redeemed themselves by still being able to pull out the victory!
"Put a Bird on it!" was this weeks award winner for best dressed! In tribute to "Portlandia" the TEA Mascots put birds on everything tonight and it ended up working for them as they edged out their opponents tonight. The chirps could be heard through the bowling alley all night as the birds kept their hot hands. I would say they may have to wear their birds the rest of the season but I'm sure they put birds on just about everything in their life so it probably goes unspoken that they'd do the same for bowling. Tweet tweet, chirp chirp! This bowling ball looks sad, put a bird on it! Those pins look like they can use a makeover, put a bird on them!
