Marcus left his mark on the softball world Sunday by playing in four different games around Northeast Portland. Marcus and his Pitches and Throws played a game at Fernhill Park and then hightailed it over to Peninsula Park for a double-header. Marcus even stuck around and played a fourth game for a team short on players. However, Marcus wasn't content just to show up. He roamed the outfield for two games, then came on and pitched the entire third game. Couple that with his barrage of game changing home runs and you are talking about the player of the week.
The best was saved for last on opening day of Spring Co-Ed softball at Pennisula Park. Coming off a tough loss in their prior game, P-Town Crushers were prepared to get into the win column against Pitches & Throws in the final game of the evening. Taking a commanding 6-0 lead into the bottom of the 2nd, it appeared P-Town Crushers were on their way to a solid win. Logan Dougherty, the starting pitcher for Pitches and Throws, finally got into hit pitching grove in the middle innings to keep the game close. Tied 17-17, Logan led off the bottom of the 7th inning with one thing on his mind...end this game right now and be the hero. One pitch, one swing, one inside the park home run...Logan finished the game in amazing style between two quality teams.
