This week we honor a team that amid a miriad of challenges managed to get through their game in style. Not only were they consistently chasing stray balls through the rocky jungle of the back 40, they had eye intrusions and placement confusions to boot. First came the sand in the eyes, then came the tiny bug as an eye intruder. These players laughed and played their way through. They were fun to watch and fun play for the other team. Thank you Air Bud Strikes Back for taking the obstacles in stride and having a great time!
Air Bud Spikes Back may be known for their spike attacks, but teammate Ryan Doughty sets the tone in digs. Sand is his friend as Ryan spends a lot of time in it fishing for whatever saves he can dig up. This is especially helpful when the volleys are intense and he's ready on defense. In Tuesday night's doubleheader, Air Bud depended on Ryan's defense to remain solid over six sets and he delivered to the very end. He's perfected the one armed out of bounds ups with gusto and teammates Alicia, Peter and Lauren were grateful for the extra volleys that resulted from Ryan's saves.
