The finals at WoksUp this week pitted two experienced teams against one another to vie for the title of champion. The games started out with the teams demonstrating their different styles of play- #42 Like a Racecar playing a big and aggressive style while 4play depended on a more consistent and even approach. After a couple big spikes by Robert and blocks by Alex, #42 went up a couple points. The two teams played evenly until 4play pulled into the lead with a well placed shot and earned their first lead of the game at 10-9. 4play ran the second half of the game, picking their shots and playing in their cool and calm manner. They won the first set 21-12.
4play continued to make good choices and show off their solid fundamentals in the second set. However, #42 is not a team to count out, and they capitalized on 4play's few mistakes to earn a lead at 6-4. Led by some excellent serving, 4play pulled even again and regained the lead. #42 called a timeout at 10-15 and afterward regained a little of their usual dominating play, hitting their spots and returning 4play's spikes. The two teams played evenly for the rest of the game, but 4play held their lead and ended up winning the game at 21-16 off of a huge spike from Ryan. The two teams played the third set out for fun, and 4play was crowned as the Thursday WoksUp champion!!
