Winter Co-ed Softcore Volleyball at Fernwood Wednesdays

The softcore semi finals brought us On Your Knees and the Gravy Diggers to the main gym for the 2014 Winter Softcore Championship. On Your Knees had to fight off the scrappy, hard hitting Chewblockas while the Gravy Diggers were up against long time Underdogers, Who Gives a Hit. Both semi final games were decided in two very close matches. And with the kinks worked out after a short time away from the gym, the Gravy Diggers and On Your Knees matched up for a GREAT Softcore Final.

It seemed that the Gravy Diggers were just a little bit warmer than On Your Knees. Game one started off slow for On Your Knees and the Gravy Diggers took advantage. They built a lead that couldn’t be caught. Knees made a small run at the end but game one went to the Diggers. But Knees wasn’t going to let the Diggers just run away with the whole match, they came out game two ready to fight back, and that they did. Knees came out and grabbed the lead. With some great hits and a few nice blocks in there, Knees built a lead but Diggers kicked back into the gear they had from game one. And point by point they worked their way back in an up to a two game sweep by a close game 25-23. Congrats to both teams but double congrats to the Gravy Diggers and becoming our 2014 Winter Champion. Good work both teams, we will see you back next season!
