Katie Riley

Ace of Bases

So when someone plays catcher with Underdog they have a few options. One is to stand/squat in a "traditional" position closer to the batter and plate. Another is to stand back further and out of dangers way of foul tips. Katie chose the more traditional option and in doing so takes a slight risk of taking a foul ball right to her. Now in your common run-of-the mill game this doesn't pose a problem and those foul balls don't come back to the catcher that often. Today was different. About half-way through the game, Katie took a foul-tip right to the cheek. After gathering herself and making sure she was OK just kind of laughed it off and kept on rolling. Most catchers would start to play back a little further at this point but not Katie...she's tougher than most! She continued to play right up close to the plate and what do you know....she takes another foul ball - right to the face again! After hearing her start laughing almost immediately we knew this was a special type of player that we rarely see. Tough, tough, tough. Way to go Katie, an example to all!
