Not in the Face came prepared to make a statement in the Softcore Championship at Tubman on Monday night. The team arrived early at the gym for warm ups that were so precise and well executed, it rivaled professional volleyball squads. The pre-game warm up proved to be the advantage as NITF breezed through three sets vs. SWAT Team without even breaking a sweat. (Well, except for Alec Campbell...). Setting their sights on the the championship wristbands and Ex Novo gift certificate, NITF went to work and engaged in several fantastic long rallies vs. #1 seed More Points in the title match. NITF took the first two sets in commanding fashion and worked the third set to a thrilling 32-30 end and victory. Well played NITF and it just goes to show you that practice makes perfect!
This week's POTW goes to Not in the Face's Alec Campbell and his "Shake Wake". The Shake Wake looks like a fancy barbell with stuff inside to make a shaking noise. Alec used the Shake Wake to inspire himself and his teammates on to victory in the Tubman Monday Night Softcore League Championship. Alec has the gift of gab and humor and kept everybody loose with his adlibbed play-by-play throughout the semifinal game vs. SWAT Team and then on to the finals vs. More Points. While distracting everybody with his humorous commentary and the Shake Wake, the Class Clown contributed in big ways to NITF's victories with a few key kills and powerful blocks. After taking the first two sets to victory, Alec sat the third game out due to a shoulder injury, but by then his damage was done and the championship firmly in place. Congrats to NITF, Alec and his Shake Wake for taking home the USL wristbands Monday night!
Alec was a force to be reckoned with on the court tonight! Not only did he start his first game off with 5 aces in a row but he also hit the ball into the basketball hoop one time earning him many style points and laughing about it after. Alec and his team will use his enthusiasm he brings to the court for momentum as we head into the final stretch of the season!
