Spring Sunday Afternoon Kickball at Unthank Park

Let's just call him Mr T. As in, "I pity the fool who tries to throw me out at home." After kicking 99.5% of a homerun in his first at bat of the game only to be thrown out at the plate, Jeff showed that deaf and blind ump that his first at bat was no fluke. He sent a second screaming shot into the outfield and motored around the bags for a legit homer. Not even a play at the plate this time and no pesky ump to stand between Jeff and the league's first home run of the spring season. Congrats Jeff and the rest of the Sunday Kickballers for a stellar opening day.

Paul scored the game winning run as the Harvey Ballbangers eeked out a 6-5 win over a short-handed Red Rockets on Sunday. Tagging up from 2nd on a Fly ball, Paul rounded third and beat the throw home to seal the deal. Nice work Paul.

The annals of sports, most notably the story of the 12th Man at Texas A&M, recount stories of triumph over adversity in an unlikely scenario. As the story goes, the college football team at Texas A&M had so many injuries during one game that they were unable to field a full team. The help came from their fans, who volunteered to suit up and play for their team. This Sunday, when Lacey of the Thundercats had an unfortunate ankle sprain that left her unable to play, her team was caught in an unfortunate situation. They called upon Callie (already at the field at the time) who volunteered to fill in for their injured player. She ended up playing outfield for a couple of innings and helped lead the Thundercats to a tightly-fought victory. Congratulations Callie, for your selfless attitude, your punctuality, and your willingness to help out friends in aid, you are the Player of the Week!

On a day of cold rain, Jennifer brought the heat - laying down some ferocious bunts and chatin' up a storm in the field. But as our President would say, it was her "strategrery" that secured her POTW. Jennifer decided to kick away late in the game rather than sticking with the bunt - throwing the defense all off. Oh, and they fact that she made the ump laugh on numerous occasions didn't hurt either. Congrats and see you all in the next round of the playoffs!
