In a particularly intense playoffs where each team had a legitimate chance to make the championship game, both the 3rd place and championship games were something to look forward to. The 3rd place game between Johnny Flip's Funky All Stars and Kicmaballs proved to be a tightly-contested defensive struggle, with JFFAL winning 3-0. The championship game between Thunder Dome and Dirty Sanchez, although just as defensively taut, had many clutch base hits, baserunners, and scoring chances. Thunder Dome drew first blood, scoring in the bottom of the first. Not to be denied, Dirty Sanchez tied it up in the top of the second. Both defenses tightened down until the bottom of the third when Thunder Dome added two more runs, and tallied three more an inning later. Dirty Sanchez, feeling the pressure, managed to get several scoring chances but just couldn't break the airtight fielding of Thunder Dome to make any serious damage. When the dust settled for the summer season, it was Thunder Dome taking home the championship belt, winning the game 6-1. Congratulations to everyone for a great league, a great playoff with many great games among great friends, and especially Thunder Dome for winning the championship!
