On a day that started out looking like it could be troublesome weather, near perfect playing conditions for the fall were abundant. In the first game of the day Schweddy Balls were locked up against Douche Newtown's in a defensive struggle. With a record pace these two teams plowed through the first four innings scoreless and in a record well under 20 minutes. With Alison Knass pitching the game of her life she made some spectacular plays with line drives that were right up the middle. One catch in particular was an absolute rocket right at her mid-section that most people wouldn't be able to handle. Her soft hands and quick reflexes proved worthy and she was able to hold onto the ball that nearly knocked her back a few feet. Riding her leadership by example Schweddy Balls was able to put a few runs on the board to take the lead that they never gave up.
In the second game of the day The Red Rubber Pounders and El Diablo Roboticos had a very exciting game that was back and forth the entire game with no team leading by more than a run or two at any point. El Diablo showed up today just as devilish as ever and put on an awesome display of evil. In the bottom of the 7th, El Diablo tried to make any deals they could with the devil but unfortunately they may have sold their final soul of the season in last week's win over the top-ranked team in the league.
For the championship game Schweddy Balls was able to dry off a bit and rest up while Red Rubber Pounders played in back-to-back games that may have been the difference maker. Schweddy Balls was just too much for them to handle as Alison pitched another near-perfect game allowing just 3 runs in her 2 games of the night for an ERA of an amazing 1.50. The Red Rubber Pounders put everything they had on the field with players going down on nearly every play to make a play. They put forth their full effort and showed they had no lacking in the heart department! Schweddy Balls led by "Cap" got some questionable base coaching but in their upbeat spirit they overcame the mistakes they made with just enough spectacular plays both offensively and defensively to pull out the victory. In the final play of the game, Andrea Bowdish decided it was time to get dirty as her white shirt had yet to acquire any mud or debris from the 2 games of the day. She geared up with the ball coming towards her and made sure to make a sure-handed catch against her body to show that she was just as much a factor today as any other Schweddy Ball on the field! Way to go Schweddy!
