Spring Softcore Co-Ed Kickball at Sewallcrest Park Sundays - On Grass

Kicking Some Sunday Mass showed up for their first week of Underdog Kickball ever to play! In an all-around good game Mike showed off his skills and concentration with the most spectacular catch of the day! With a fly-ball to the shallow right field Mary came charging into make the catch. With a tough ball to catch she ended up making the right play by knocking the ball back up in the air just enough for Mike to get a few fingers on it. Of course it couldn't be as easy as that, so...Mike made it a little more interesting! He not only bobbled the ball once, but twice and did this all while falling to the ground and contorting his body into positions I didn't know were possible. Oh, and yes, after the few bobbles Mike did make the spectacular catch while on the ground! A unique display of concentration and body parts moving in all sorts of places it was well worthy of Highlight of the Day!

Rachel has taken the role of the "Enforcer" for Hollywood Ballers it seems. In an inadvertent double-out and shot to the head by Rachel players will undoubtedly know they are "out" when Rachel is near by! (It must also be noted though that the head shot was totally on accident. As soon as it happened Rachel apologized as the player that was hit in the head laughed it off as well since she knew it wasn't on purpose and didn't cause any harm.) So in an effort to minimize damage done by Rachel to the faces of the other team the Ballers put her out into center field. Little did they know she had the hands of glory as a finger-tip catch above her head saved a sure extra-base hit. Rachel earns Player of the Week in hopes she doesn't impose her will on anyone else next week!

The stage was set...looking for their first victory of the day, Swift Kick In The Grass was down by 1 with one runner on when Chase Francis stepped up to the plate. With one powerful kick Chase brought himself and his team-mate home with an in-park home run to take the lead in the final minutes of the game.

The Player of the Week award really goes to everyone that played for Kickn' Kids as well as Swift Kick in the Grass this week. In a game now dubbed the "rain bowl" these two teams started the game with a fairly dry field considering the last few days of rain but by the 4th inning the downpour started. With puddles forming everywhere and the rain not letting up these two teams decided to power through the weather and wouldn't let the thought of canceling the game even enter their minds! True Underdog troupers these two teams are!

Niel stepped into an unusual role for himself onto the pitchers mound. He showed he was as good as the scouting reports showed and may have just earned a few more innings up there in future seasons. Big Panda Matt decided to put Niel in for the double header and he proved to be a great choice! In related news both Corine and Matt had error-free games today!
