Opening night was surely exciting, and especially for this indy team full of strangers that had never played together before. By the end of their match, they were a changed team, both in name and spirit. Emerging as the team leader was Rachel Kiken, who made this transition seamlessly! Ever positive, she encouraged her teammates throughout the game, and began laying the foundation needed for this team to be successful all season. The force is strong with this one, and when her serves are on point...not even a Jedi could stop them. Keep it up Rachel!!!

The Serv-ivors faced a tough team tonight, and although they did not come out victorious, they were definitely the most spirited team, and brought nothing but positive energy to the match. The leader of this spiritivity was Adam Zahn who didn't stop moving the entire game and was recognized by one of his teammates for "giving the best high fives." Adam truly represents the Underdog attitude of having fun no matter what, and that's what this team is all about. Smiles and cheers abound when Adam is on the court, and positive vibes are left wherever he goes. Thanks for rocking it so hard this week Adam!!!

Unstoppable!!!
It is hard to think of something this guy can't do on the court! He can set, he can hit, his jump serves are nearly flawless, and he willingly sacrifices his body to make saves. He was on the ground more times than could be counted, and pulled off a save that involved him sliding several feet into the wall. It...was...incredible!!! He keeps the ball alive, and creates opportunities for his teammates. The excitement was high throughout all three games, and this is no doubt in huge part thanks to Reeve. Thanks for coming out and crushing so hard! Congrats Reeve!!

Big shout outs this week to Keith May from Inappropriate Touches. This guy has a great attitude and kept encouragement high as his team played a double headed this week. Keith has an uncanny ability to read the court even while he is in midair! He repeatedly placed the ball in an open spot for a point after reading the defense and making adjustments mid-play. To say he's got mad skills would be down playing the situation. Court smarts are matched with great serves and play making for his teammates. Way to go Keith!!!

Helping build this dynamic is Savanna, who this week put on quite a show with her hustle and epic one armed saves at the back wall. After supporting her team through a tough match against It's A Hard Bump Life, Savanna stepped up to play a second match with the folks from Notorious D.I.G. Everyone is treated when this team is on the court! In the first round of playoffs tonight against the tough Setsy and We Know It, this team took home a well deserved win. Every player on this team works hard, encourages each other, hustles, and has mad volleyball skills. Its A Hard Bump Life also boasts some of the best laughs on the court, and definitely wins the award for most creative alteration of the Underdog t-shirt. This team is sure to give their opponents a run for their money next week in the Semifinals and Finals. They are tough, and they come out not only to win, but to have a great time!
