"I am RiDiguloso"
"I am RiDiguloso"
Red In His Eyes
As he stands there, dripping in sweat and has his eyes crossed, Ken Hughes utters the forever famous words ...."I am RiDiguloso"
RiDiguloso or not, he helped lead his team to a 3-0 victory in the season opener. People would call him the wild card off the team because he is hit or miss, but on Tuesday night he was the ultimate X factor. He should up calm and collective and when he stepped on the court to play, Ken turned into the RiDiguloso monster that he is. There was no stopping him. Just like the Hulk, you don't like him when he is angry. Ken will not turn green, but he does have red in his eyes and you will notice.
Thankfully Ken turned off that red after the game and when he was congratulated and because of that, we give him the Player of the Week award.

VALENTINE'S DAY!
Mutant of Volleyball Greats
Mutant of Volleyball Greats
Lot of Baggage
He is just a mere humble man, but he plays with great combination of all stars. Bad News Beers got a deal when they traded for Joe Gawron. El Pollo came with a lot of baggage and was a gamble but it has seemed to pay off as his teammates have him under control.
Joe played with Gabrielle Reece's height but with the hustle of the beach volleyball legend, Karch Kiraly.
What sets Joe apart is the best sets just like April Ross.
When interviewed as the player of the game, he had one thing to say, " I had one cool block and one cool dive." Anyone else would be tired while speaking, but Joe is just a mutant of volleyball greats, he said all that like he never played a game.
Joe deserves the Player of the Week award with his great play. Congratulations.

Hercules Bolt Power
Hercules Bolt Power
No waste in his height
Great things come in small packages, but not Brad Biddle from Shaggin' Balls. Brad single-handedly brought his team from the depths of doom with his height measuring 6'7".
He got that killer instinct and charged the net blocking every person that dared test his height. When his teammates set him up, he would power it down with the force of the thunderous bolt of Hercules and the accuracy of a sniper. We even heard a mumble from the team saying "Dang your tall".
His captain Tracy Benson gave him a pat on the back with the quote ...."At least you didn't put height to waste." Brad just laughed and joked with him. At the end of the night, Brad was the one to go up to the team and act a fool in front and shaking their hands to wish them a game well played. For his height and crazy antics, Brad Biddle gets the player of the week award. Congratulations.

Taking Charge
Taking Charge
Lefty
Floor Play called in the lefty to come and fill a spot as a sub, but low and behold Jen Bauer was a righty. This strategy seemed to work because it threw the opposing team off all night.
Jen got the call from the team captain and came running. She dabbled a bit in high school, but ran track in college....tomato......toma-toh, same thing right? She stepped on the court and took charge like General Grant commanding the armies to the south. Jen played an all around game looking the other team in their eyes and then without mercy killing the ball on a spike between two players. She had spectacular serves that only a college track player can have.
She was happy to play and we were happy to have her as she gets the Player of the Week award. Congratulations.

Great Day to be Eleanor Becher
Great Day to be Eleanor Becher
All Star
Mr Jones has an all star on their team and played like one. Eleanor Becher came in from the cold ready to play. Her presence alone made a difference as the opposing team said ......"Don't serve to her."
From the 1st game, instantly, she would lay out to create some awesome sets to her teammates. When the opposing team would spike it to her, Eleanor would make crazy ballerina moves while digging the ball for her team.
She was all over the place and even went up for a block. Her presence alone on that block caused the player to miss the spike. Eleanor was feeling so good that she bought a ticket and won the lotto even. She even saved money when she switched car insurance to Gieco.
All and all it was a great day for Eleanor Becher, which is why she gets the Player of the Week award. Congratulations.

The True Lin
The True Lin
Energy to burn
Cassie Lin proved that she taught Jeremy Lin everything he knows because Cassie went Lin-Sane, the legal sanity!
Cassie was all over the court running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Wherever the ball went, she was there. Her teammates would call for the ball and she would run them over to chase a ball down. Her teammates took a step back to see her play and it was a sight to see.
Cassie had all this energy to burn off, but unfortunately she will only be able to display this effort one time. She will be leaving Underdog for greener grass in Arizona. Don't worry Cassie you have definitely sealed your legend with us because of your Lin-Sanity performance. Congratulations and good luck in the AZ.

Extra Motivation
Ben Anderson led his team on the court and into the playoffs with intensity in his eyes and he left the court with a smile on his face and shots on his mind. The One Armed Bandits played a good match, but lost to a worthy opponent.
Not all was bad because they ended up winning their final game led by Liz Eslinger as she played like a she was possessed by the volleyball gods. She made amazing passes that only a pro can make. She even did the moon walk before setting up her teammate to an amazing kill.
Once that happened, it was as if confetti fell from the ceiling and the music was blasting. Even though they got eliminated from playoff contention, they didn't care because they got a win. The One Armed Bandits played as a cohesive unit, but still had some flaws. Once a timeout was called, someone in the team said they will buy the 1st round if they pull off the victory. There is nothing like a great time at a pub to motivate your team and that is exactly what they did. The Bandits pulled it off and off to the pub they went to commence their celebrations.
We give them the Team of the Week Award to add to their celebration, congratulations.

Play for fun
Play for fun
Lead by example
Some people point the finger and scorn, but Tracy Benson from Shaggin Balls simply joins in the fun when his team makes a mistake. He made it a point to get his team to the championship game by playing like a kid to make sure you are having fun.
In the Semi Final game they played, Shaggin Balls played a worthy opponent, but it was that "lets get out there and have some fun" attitude that ultimately propelled them to win 2 games to 1.
Tracy made some spectacular plays by killing the ball from time to time, but he told his teammates play and have fun, and they did.
Through out the games, He kept a smile on his face the whole night and was ready to keep it going later that night. For leading his team by example, we give Tracy Benson the Player of the Week award. Congratulations.
