Pickles and the Ticklers
With the prospects of not having a game, Luke and the rest of the Ticklers stepped up, stuck around and enthusiastically played a double header...and by them staying, we had the game of the day. A 7-6 barnburner that came down to the final inning to decide. Great job guys and thanks for sticking around.

Michelle was all over the place make one great catch after another and holding down her position like a battalion of half man half werewolf super soldiers. Great job out there. I'm sure the Pitch Slaps are happy you were able to sub for them.

Defense Rules
The 3:30 game at Fernhill Park appeared on paper to be evenly matched and a potential thriller...both teams lived up to the hype and then some. The catcher at times can be an overlooked position in Underdog softball...Stacy Stoddard of Buckner Balls made sure the spotlight shined bright on the "quarterback position" this sunny afternoon. Stacy called a great game for the pitcher, keeping the batters off balance and guessing what was coming next the entire game. Her knowledge of the strike zone and cat quick reflexes brought about three fly ball outs to herself in three different innings. This solid defense kept Buckner Balls in the game until the very end & showed everyone how to truely play the catcher's position.

The Battle of Wounded Knee...Fernhill Park 2012
Teams were in a festive mood at Fernhill Park on Saturday. Something special was in the air all day...perhaps Cinco de Mayo had a wee bit to do with the sombrero hats worn by some players and the "lemonade" being consumed by others. The day started out with a hotly contested battle between Zach's Shack and Buckner Ballers. Brad Maule, left fielder for Zach's Shack, found his knee of the wrong side of a high fly ball early in the game. Shaken, but not out for the count, Brad rubbed some salt on the bruise and moved himself into the infield. Brad held his own and made some great plays to keep his team close early in the game. His defensive skillz were highlighted by a twisting, amazing over-the-shoulder-diving-catch on a lazy fly ball to left field. Who needs two knees when you can make a play like that on just one! Great effort Brad...here's hoping your new black and blue tattoo wears off in a couple of days.

Michaelangelo sculpts. Picasso paints. Sarah Cox fist pumps.

Sarah pulled off some mean dance moves behind home plate while playing the role of spiritual captain, giving her team a victory, albeit a theoretical one.

Well done, Sarah!
