Given the 4th overall seed out of four teams in the Division 1 bracket, Back Up Off Me, Pitches! knew their path to the title wasn’t going to be easy. They were going to be the underdog in every match up and would have to go through the top seed in their very first game for a shot at the finals. As they were writing the first chapter in their underdog story with a first round win, Standard Deviants was doing the same as they beat the 2 seed as the number 3 team. This gave us the ultimate underdog matchup as the two lowest seeds met each other in the finals for all the glory. A competitive and close game that stayed within two runs through at least 5 innings, Back Up Off Me turned it up a notch as all great teams do when the game is on the line in the final innings. They increased the gap going into the 7th and trusted their defense to make the crucial plays that would secure their victory, and their defense did not disappoint. As they caught a fly ball for their last out, fans and teammates in their dugout celebrated as the final page of their underdog story was completed.

After a huge extra inning battle in the semifinals, it would be easy to assume that the honey badgers had run out of gas. However, they were laughing with each other and laser focused when they needed to be. This lead to blowing out the 1 seed in the finals. Congrats Honey Badgers!
