Underdogs Spring volleyball league has gone underway, what an exciting time! The weather is finally starting to warm up, and people are ready to get their volleyball on. Of course we always have fun at Underdog, but we always try to emphasize the importance of keeping the league fair and safe as well. Matt Almond of the Stump Jumpers did just that when he owned up to an illegal hit Thursday night. Even though his team would have benefited from it had he not said anything, he stopped play immediately and their opponent got the point. Very good job in keeping the league fair, Matt! And for that reason you are this weeks player of the week. Congratulations and keep up the great work!

This weeks player of the week goes to Cameron Simmons of the Stump Jumpers! Cameron was all over the place Thursday night with his awesome defensive play, impressive net play, and clutch serving. It was pretty hard not to notice how hard he was working to get his team the win! On top of his athletic finesse, he was also cheering on his teammates and showing off a pretty great attitude. Keep up the great work Cameron, and congratulations on being this weeks player of the week!

This week, the SE PDX courts saw a lot of athletic play, from vicious overhand serves, to leaping hits to return errant balls. Even with the high level of play, Christine Willey stood out. Is it the way she risked life and limb to dive on the floor to return spikes for her team? Is it the way she got up like it was nothing to serve a perfect ball? It's both these things, and how it always looked like she and all of "We Got Hops" were consistently having a fantastic time playing on Thursday night. Congrats to Christine and her team for having a great week!

Robin was so excited for her team whether they were up in points or not, and even though Orville Ready-Blocker came out with the win, Robin was happy to see how far she and her teammates have come since the beginning of the season. Player of the Week goes to Amy Shook for her epic vocalizing throughout the game. Everyone in the bleachers (and Eastmoreland), was awake, alert, and enthusiastic when Amy's calls shook the stands. There is speculation she took voice lessons to master that level of cheering, but one thing is for sure - the excitement in that team never faltered.
