Summer Co-ed Softball at Westmoreland Wed/Thur

This past Thursday at Westmoreland Park, Cameron of Balls to the Wall came up big when his team needed him most. During the top of the 7th, Balls to the Wall needed 1 run to at least tie the game. At that moment, Cameron rose to the occasion, smashing a ball to deep left center and relying on his speed to hit an in the park home run to put his team up two. With some help on the defensive side in the bottom of the inning, that homer secured the opening day win for Balls to the Wall. For coming up clutch in the game’s most intense moment, Cameron is our player of the week. Congratulations!

This past Thursday at Westmoreland Park, Greg of Back Door Sliders came up clutch when his team needed him most. During the bottom of the last inning, Back Door Sliders needed 3 runs to tie, 4 runs to win in order to beat Ice Cold Pitchers. After rallying 3 runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, Greg stepped up to the plate with runners on first and third, two outs. With what looked like no pressure at all, Greg hit a line drive shot between short stop and third that allowed the runner from third to walk home for the win. For the walk off single during the game’s most intense moment, Greg is our player of the week. Congratulations!

WOW! That word is, effectively, the only way to describe Cody’s big moment. Cody of Jerry’s Pizza exhibited extreme athleticism on his what would be game saving catch. While in the bottom of the final inning, Cody made a complete over the head stretched out catch to double up Diamond Runners and put his team in the game winning position. The catch was definitely enough to drop the jaws of all witnesses to the scene. For stunning everyone with his extreme athleticism, Cody is our player of the week. Congratulations!

What a great game we had at Westmoreland park! It was the top of the last inning and Portland Amateur Softball Team put up 3 runs to extend the game into the bottom of the inning. With runners on first and second, Andrew from Jerry’s Pizza knew he had to make a play for his team. As the count started to get into his favor he dug in await the pitch. Andrew sent a shot out to left field that no one was going to get. From there, the runner on second trotted home as Jerry’s Pizza walked it off. For the clutch performance tonight, Andrew is our player of the week!

No matter how intense the competition, there should always be room for sportsmanship in any game. Hannah repeatedly embodied this amazing sportsmanship throughout the entire game. She continuously rallied her team and brought the energy. Hannah truly embodied the Underdog spirit with her attitude. For increasing the fun had by all, Hannah is our Player of the Week. Congratulations!

Playoffs were in full swing at Westmoreland Park! We had a nail biter between We Met Online and Jerry’s Pizza. It was the top of the 7th and Jerry’s Pizza needed 7 runs to tie the game. An amazing rally did just that. The biggest moment came with 2 out runner on first. Cody of Jerry’s Pizza was trying to put his team ahead. The pitch came and Cody crushed a shot down the third base line out of the park! The 2 runs ended up being the game winning runs for Jerry’s Pizza to keep their playoff hopes alive. For his clutch performance, Cody is our Player of the Week!

Big time players make big time plays. Such was the case for Meagan of Masterbatters this Thursday night at Westmoreland. After going down in the final inning, the team rallied to be able to tie it up in the final inning. With runners on second and third, Meagan hit a line shot between first and second to allow the runner to dance home and take home the victory. For the absolute clutch performance, Meagan is our player of the week!

Keagan had some great hits during the “Mighty Wombats” double header. They won their semifinal game with the help of Keagan’s grand slam. He also had a few crucial base hits in the championship game where they fell just short of winning.
