Summer Midcore Co-Ed Kickball at Peninsula Park Sundays

Kevin really came through on Sunday. Not only did he get his team organized and ready for a kickball game, but he took all the tream kickballs to his car and blew them with his portable inflator saving the Underdog crew sore forearm muscles...thanks a million Kevin, you really made the day great!

Field was wet and slick, but that wasn't stopping Yewahhe budhahie and Billy from making plays. Making several catches at first, including a big inning end'er, he was kicking in runs and getting on base. Hustling and having fun, Billy was on it.

Look, there's laid back, there's relaxed and then there's...well...Underdog. And Crystal makes casual look oh so cool. From her retro shades, to the whole attitude. Playing third base with a new style of laid back, but certainly not lazy. You don't own third base being lazy, but she's got something.

As an example. Bottom of the third, Crystal is on home base, lost in her thoughts (world domination, what's for dinner, is the ump single? Who knows?) when the opposing team rounds second and is screaming for third base when her team mate throws it straight at her. Crystal came out of her daydream just long enough to go, "Oh!," casually grab the ball and gently tag the runner out.

Crystal you are probably way too cool for school, work and Portland in general, but thankfully just the right level of cool for Underdog. Congrats!

So I know it's Underdog, and I know we usually do these things based on ability to pitch in a Clone Trooper Helmet, or most creative use of a cartwheel in centerfield, but sometimes we just got to look at the play and go WOW!

First off, congrats to the whole team of Step Daddies. All of you have been a pleasure to work with this season and show a lot of respect and team spirit.

This week however was Kyle's week. On a team of great Underdogs, he stood out. In particular on a line drive just outside the first base line, that would have taken dislocated a lesser person arms, Kyle reached out with a fingertip grab that made everyone take a moment to pause and admire it.

Did Kyle do a dance, taunt the other team, scream and yell, dislocate his arm anyway trying to pat himself on the back? Nope. He just tossed it back to the pitcher as if it was just a day at the office.

Kyle, you are a class act on a team of class acts, and an outstanding Underdog.
