After upsetting the number on seed Dickbat last week, Fireballz was poised for another upset as the faced off against the power hitting (and extremely hungover) Base Camp Brewing crew. It was a back and forth battle that came down to the very last inning. With home runs galore and some killer catches in the outfield, the game was nothing short of spectacular. Coming into the bottom of the seventh, Fireballz had to score 5 runs to send the game into extras. They did just that, and more... With two outs and the bases loaded, Jay stepped up to the plate and hit a solid ground ball that scooted past the vacuum at short and into the outfield. PJ, the winning run, came trucking around third like a freight train. The throw, just a tad late, made it exciting, but the winning run crossed home and the comeback was complete.
Sarah scooped everything at first and Jay made sure the umpires stayed on point, even without their contacts. PJ wore his mask and intimidated hitters all year long. Lopez took strikes like they were balls, then hit balls like they were strikes. Papi hit some cars on the other side of the park, then threw the ball a million miles an hour from the outfield to the poor gloves on the dirt. Tim is tall, the Eric/Ericks can ball, and the rest of the team did their part all-in-all.
It was a great season for the Fireballz, and we can't wait to see them back out to defend the belt.
Cheers!

It was an up and down season for Hungover; getting everyone out of bed and on the field was often the biggest battle. Coming into the playoffs, Hungover was ready to compete. Unfortunately, their semi-final game was marred with a forfeit from the opposing crew. It looked like more of the same on Sunday, but The Biscuits came with five short of a baker's dozen (enough to play) and 110% effort from everyone on the dusty dirt. With some funky angles on the mound, solid play in outfield, aggressive base running, and hits that found every open hole, the Hungover crew played like champs, taking home the crown and a gift certificate that will surely be spent on.... wait for it.... boozin'!
Congrats Hungover, and big ups to Mary for her amazing baked goods!
