"Always the bridesmaid, never the bride" has often been uttered about Questionable Catch... but no more after Wednesday night's action at the Friendly House. The perennial runner-up would play second fiddle to no one this Spring after an exciting 3 games to 2 series win over Accidental Awesomeness in the championship match. Things looked bleak for Questionable Catch in the final though. Accidental Awesomeness went up 2-0 with 2 surprisingly easy wins in Games 1 & 2. Darcy Murphy was mowing Catchers down left and right. But it is always darkest before the dawn and the #1 seed Questionable Catch wouldn't say die. A fairly easy Game 3 victory with Tim Ewing, Andrea Becken, and Brian Pyle mowing down AA dodgers and a close Game 4 win with Corrine Clarke making a crucial catch to end the game for the Catchers set the stage for the deciding Game 5. Questionable Catch came out firing and the proceedings were brief. Game 5 was a turkey shoot mercifully ending when Katie Bergstrom was pegged out near her back wall. A jubilant celebration ensued the likes of which I have not seen since Michael Jordan shed tears of joy over his first NBA Championship trophy in 1991. "This is the greatest day in the history of my life," said Travis Demers. Regan Hendryx remarked "This is for all the doubters out there who said we'd never win a championship." With the talent on this team, however, this reporter asks "Is one title enough?" It is a long off-season this summer and, with Questionable Catch's well-known ways with the spirited beverages : ), we'll see how focused they return next season to defend their title. Until then, party like it's 1999 Skittles, Tiny Dancer, and Questionable Catch. You're the 2015 Late Spring Champs!
