Summer Softcore Kickball at Peninsula Park Thursdays

Another hot summer day, but the night was nice and cool, thanks to Ruby Death Squad and Hold my Beer. I was watching and calling the game,and it had some plays. Andrew was doing his part, fun first along with hustle and big kicks.
Putting one on the line in deep left field, it was the kick of the night, while adding some nice catches. Also be a good sport Andrew ,aka the most of kickball. Nice game.

There used to be a player named Home Run Baker that played for the Philadelphia A's & New York Yankees from 1908 to 1922. He led baseball in 1911 through 1913 with a WHOPPING 11, 10, & 12 HRs respectively in those seasons <I guess home run output was a little smaller in the early 1900s : )> and won 4 straight MVPs from 1911 through 1914. Well there's a new Home Run Baker in Portland after Thursday night's action and his name is Bryce Baker. On his birthday to boot, Bryce crushed 2 HRs including a Grand Slam and also banged out 2 doubles in To Kick a Mockingbird's big victory over the Ball Breakers. I have never seen such an offensive explosion by one player. Not only was Bryce an offensive juggernaut, but he was a clear leader of his team as well. Happy Birthday Home Run Baker!

In Hold My Beer and Watch This' intense championship run Dave was able to maintain the Underdog spirit and keep atmosphere light and fun during a heated affair. Apart from locking down his position at catcher and recording a few good kicks at the plate Dave joked with the umpires and the other team in the spirit having a fun time when maybe other players were not. Players like Dave are an important piece to kickball leagues in order to maintain a fun and safe atmosphere for all teams of all skill levels.
