Player of the Week
It was a beautiful evening for opening day of summer co-ed flag football! The sun had just dipped behind the stands, offering plenty of light but no one had to play with sun in their eyes.

Gabi and the rest of the yet-to-be-named Indy team #FF7 came out firing on all cylinders. They had a plan of attack from the first step and a well spaced zone defense to shut down the Honey Badgers for most of the game.

Gabi quickly became the go-to target after hauling in a couple nice catches to start off the first couple series. She ended up finding her way into the end zone after shaking her defender and coming down with the catch in the corner.

This team is stacked to the tops of the trees with talent and chemistry. Once their team comes up with a name I am sure we will be hearing it shouted across the rooftops. Indy #FF7 is off to a great start with one victory under their flag belts!

Candice O. Wins the Game at the Goal Line
Candice O. Wins the Game at the Goal Line
Player of the week
It was another scorcher this Wednesday evening and Blood, Sweat & Beers and Temperamental made it even hotter with their all star play. Both teams were firing on all cylinders, playing both sides of the ball extremely well.
Candice was the brightest star, including our unforgiving sun, on the field this week though. She did a bit of everything to ensure her team walked away with a victory.
She took a one catch to the house for a touchdown, picked up a few key first downs through playing both receiver and quarterback at times. But that was not enough for her, she had one more big time play left in her at the end of the game.
BSB came back from two scores late and found themselves on the 5 yard line with a minute to go. They were poised to steal this game out from underneath Temperamental. Candice had other plans though. She jumped a quick slant route at the goal line to pocket an interception. She secured the football, took a knee, and took the game right out of BSB's hands.
Time and time again these two teams battle it out in epic fashion and this time Candice went full tilt to secure the win.
Congrats on the big time play and player of the week, Candice!

Sami Snaggin' the Interception
Sami Snaggin' the Interception
Player of the week
As soon as both teams stepped on the field, you could tell it was going to be a battle for the ages. The look in everyone's eyes raged of fire and fury amidst the blistering heat of the early evening. Kiss My End Zone and Alcoholics Anonymous were ready to show the league who's top dog.
No one had more focus and more tenacity than Sami S. for A.A. though. It was a close battle the entire game as Sami came up with big time play after big time play. She brought the house down late in the second half to snap the back and forth touchdown tossing between teams. Sami jumped a quick route by the receiver, scooped up the interception and sprinted down the sideline to put her team in position to score again.
Her quick thinking and even quicker hands helped secure this victory for A.A. They now sit atop the leader board alone at 4-0. And so far you'd have to name Sami MVP of this team.

Jason T. with the best hands all day
Jason T. with the best hands all day
Player of the week
It was a back and forth battle the entire game for Blood, Sweat, and Beers & Skittles. Each team was running a very efficient two minute offense for the entire first half. It was raining touchdown after touchdown for both teams. Short passes turned into long runs for more than a few players. Jason ripped off a couple of those to ensure BSB's eventual victory. Jason was incredibly consistent throughout the game. He continuously found open space, exposing the defense's soft spots while moving the chains. His stellar hands week in and week out is one of the big reasons BSB is on a three game win streak!

Valerie L. Coming Through in the Clutch
Valerie L. Coming Through in the Clutch
Player of the week
It was a fine day for playoffs at L&C. The sun was shining, spirits were high, and everyone was jacked up to play some football. Valerie of Temperamental stepped up on both offense and defense over the course of two games. She snagged a piercing throw from Brandon in the end zone to take the lead at the end of the first half! But that was far from her last big time catch of the evening. Valerie sealed her teams playoff advancement against Kiss My End Zone by scooping up an interception and running it nearly to the end zone.
Valerie and Temperamental left it all on the field in the second hour against Alcoholics Anonymous. Valerie was the go to player of the night as she put up another touchdown!

Justin M. Toe Tappin' Goodness
Justin M. Toe Tappin' Goodness
Player of the Week
There is nothing like an incredible catch in the corner of the end zone with one toe coming down in bounds for the touchdown. Justin of Alcoholics Anonymous can't seem to get enough of those every week. And I mean every week. It is to the point that we might as well just stick a ref on Justin just to call his toe tappin' grabs.
This week he came down with more than a few to propel his team to a championship victory.
It seems like every end zone play Justin runs to the back corner and starts screaming, "TOMMY, TOMMY, TOMMY!" Inevitably the quarterback (Tommy) starts to scramble and with uncanny accuracy lofts the ball high and to the corner where somehow even with what seems like half the defense sprinting that way Justin jumps above the rest to snatch it out of the air. And again somehow he leaves just enough room to get his toe in bounds.
Justin has it down to an art form at this point, he rarely doesn't make the catch or find a way to stay in bounds. He is as consistent as they come and while AA has a multitude of weapons, Just-In-Time keeps every defense on their toes.
