Bobi got in a pickle on Tuesday night at Montavilla Community Center. Maybe not "the biggest pickle any of us had ever seen" a la The Sandlot but a pickle nonetheless. Rarely seen in softball, she was caught halfway between second and third and run down (in a nicely executed run down I might add) and tagged out. But this didn't stop our heroine. Her next at bat she was on the bases again and tried to score from second on a base hit AND... was f'n thrown out there too. At least she goes for it, though! And for this, Bobi is this week's Player of the Week!
Kyle Czerwinski had a great night on Tuesday night at Montavilla Community Center. After returning from being away in Luxembourg, a small landlocked western European country bordered by Belgium to the west and north, Germany to the east, and France to the south with a population 537,039. it was unclear which Kyle Czerwinski would show up. Would it be the Kyle that we came to a know and love as a superstar of the diamond or would it be a rusty version of his former self? That question was answered resoundingly in the first inning when Kyle led off the game with a home run. Later, with runners on first and second, he came out of nowhere to snatch a sure base hit out of the center field air, then step on second to double off the runner... and then throw to first to triple off the other runner completing a triple play. He probably could have racked up all 3 outs himself if he wanted to run down the runner from first and tag her himself but he let the first baseman get into the action. This rare feet, combined with the lead off homer and some other great hits in other at bats has earned Kyle the coveted Week 1 Player of the Week Award! Congratulations, Kyle!
