Sloppy Sets

Player of the week is a no brainier when a team doesn't hesitate to nominate an opponent for the honor. The Sloppy Sets faced off against the Blundercats, and when asked if any players stood out during the game, the Blundercats were unanimous: Julie from the Sloppy Sets. If that's not a ringing endorsement I don't know what is. We were all in awe of Julie's consistent play and team spirit. This is what Underdog is all about. Thanks Julie!

Nothing Sloppy About Erica's Game!

Sloppy Sets

Erica Nukaya of the Sloppy Sets approaches the game of volleyball with precision and a plan. Always in the right place at the right time. Her service on Wednesday Softcore at Tubman never missed the mark (at one point at least five in a row) and she was ready at net or with an assist for her fellow Sloppys. Erica's role as playmaker was definitely key for the Sloppys' three-game sweep over Air Bud Strikes Back. Her infectious energy, spirit and constant smile kept the game at a high level and inspired her teammates to achieve victory in every set!

Aloha and Mahalo Mike!

Oh no! 'Tis true! One of USL's most dedicated, talented and longtime players is leaving rainy, gray PDX for the languid, clear blue waters of OAHU! What??? And shift your talents out to those white sands of beach volleyball??? Well, we guess somebody has to do it and it might as well be Mike. And because he's upgrading to the beautiful shores of Waikiki for a work transfer in a couple weeks, we wanted to send him out in USL style with one last POTW. Mike Marxen can do it all and Wednesday at Tubman Softcore was no exception. Mike and the Sloppy Sets roared out in front of Blundercats by displaying some fancy setting and assists by Mike, to come out victorious in the first two sets. Game 3 saw a bit of a downturn as the Sets dropped for the loss, but they never cease to be consistent, especially when the scores were 20-25, 20-25 and 25-20! While we bid Aloha! to Mike in a few short weeks, we can still marvel at his volleyball skills for his remaining games with the Sloppy Sets. Great to have you as such a dedicated player, Mike and best of luck!
