Alcoholics Anonymous vs Balls & Dolls took the field with a championship at stake. This made to be one of the best showdowns in Underdog Sports.
Both teams came out hot early, making great plays on offense and amazing stops on defense. At halftime, both teams kept it close trying to separate themselves for a win.
Late in the game, it was 19-22, Alcoholics Anonymous trailing, but making their way to the end zone. QB Tyler zips a fire to a receiver for a score and the lead. They were successful with the extra point and now with a 26-22 lead with less than 1 minute remaining.
Balls & Dolls now looking to score and with time as their enemy. They march on, picking up yards pass after pass. Then just when near the end zone, the QB, Steven tries to thread the needle and is picked off by an AA defender. 5 seconds later, the whistle blows and the game is over.
A great finish to an amazing game! Alcoholics Anonymous over Balls & Dolls 26-22
We have a shared player of the week honors. This week it is shared by Nathan Barry and Dan Barbon.
Nathan has a nickname that his team has made up for him. He is known as "Butt Hug" because he relentlessly pressures the quarterbacks all season long. This week, he recorded 5 sacks in one game.
Dan has a nickname as well, known as "Old Man River". Not only can he do the river dance better than anyone you will ever meet, he proved that he still has some moves, scoring 2 touchdowns in a critical game.
Congratulations to both players in the shared honors of players of the week.
An amazing finish to an amazing game. Farve Dollar Footlongs took the field against a talented Alcoholics Anonymous. This high scoring game was sure to keep every spectator on the edge of their seats and it did not disappoint. Early in the game Lauren Carpenter set the standards high by scoring a touchdown with an great grab and an amazing sprint towards the end zone. She then dominated on defense by pulling 3 flags.
In the 2nd half, Lauren kept that intensity strong by making an outstanding reception on 3rd and gender giving the Alcoholics Anonymous a 1st down and targeting the end zone. Then with just under 1.30 to play and the score tied at 50-50, quarterback Tommie Moore, finds Lauren with a reception near the end zone and she made a great move for the go ahead score.
Alcoholics Anonymous now with a 57-50 lead and Farve Dollar Footlongs on the pursuit to tie the game up. On 2nd and short, Lauren comes running in like a mad linebacker to make the sack taking the opposing team 5 yards back. The Footlongs gather their composure begin to knock on the door of the end zone for the tie.
Now with only 4 seconds left in the game, on the final play of the game, the pass is up only to be dropped by the receiver in the end zone. Whistles blow, the game is over and Alcoholics Anonymous rejoice with a nail biting victory of 57-50 lead by this weeks player of the week Lauren Carpenter!
