After a mentally and physically exhausting semifinal game for RBG's Ball Busters, they moved into the final to take on the also undefeated Ace of Base. After jumping out to an early 4-3 lead, Ace of Base began to turn on the jets, making play after play defensively, and being aggressive on the basepaths, opening up a lead that held up and gave them a completed perfect season at Sewallcrest. Great job guys!
Normally, the player of the week exemplifies the player who exhibited the most fun during the day. This week, may not exactly be that way, but I'm hard pressed to find someone who made a bigger play (maybe this season) than Brock from Ace of Base. The game was winding down, and Ace of Base had a "comfortable" lead. But, as Best Little Scorehouse is known to do.. they chipped away. They were knocking on the door in the Top of 7, with 1 out, when a sharp grounder was kicked to third. Brock Baumgartner shifted to his right, snaring the ball and tagging 3 for the first out, without a second's notice, Brock whipped the ball like a rocket to 2nd, where he was able to beat the runner to the bag, for a rare game ending double play. The undefeated season continues for Ace of Base, thanks to an incredible play, that may have been the difference in their season. Nice job Brock!
Most Weekend Warriors bring their A game for one game of kickball. Lindsay brought it for a big doubleheader to start the day at Sewallcrest, and even gave us a SportsCenter moment after an errant throw from third. The throw came short and off line, but Lindsay gave her best Gumby impression falling into a full front split, all the while reaching right, snaring the ball, while keeping her back foot squarely on 1st to beat the runner! Amazing play and great effort all day Lindsay!
