The 7:30pm game at Irving Park on Monday was a battle all game long between Result and Indy team #S6, two teams that came ready to play from the first pitch. Some fine defense was on display by both teams all game long, keeping both teams within striking distance until the last inning. Leading the charge for team Result was Eudaora Blair, a natural at 2nd base who held down the #4 position with some fine defensive grabs and timely outs with the help of her shortstop partner. With momentum swinging and nursing a slim 19-14 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning, Eudora continued her fine play at 2nd, covering the bag quickly to record the final out of a very entertaining game on this fine evening for Underdog softball.
This game was circled on all of the players' calendars as soon as the schedule was released back in early June...two teams that work hand in hand and share a common goal during the day, yet at a drop of a dime compete at the highest level on the softball field. Bragging rights, pride & a very interesting "trophy" was on the line between Clear & Result, two teams that came ready to play (and talk a little bit of smack) in a game that didn't disappoint the large crowd gathered on this fine night for softball.
With team Clear building an early 7-2 lead in the game, it appeared to many that the pressure may be too much for team Result. Not a chance in this game, with Result getting hot at the plate in the middle innings and pulling within striking distance. Time was running out, 15-15 going into the bottom of the last inning...it was time for someone to make a statement. Carson Moran did just that and then some, leading off the inning with a blast of a walk-off home run, sealing a hard fought victory and ensuring they would be the talk of the office for months to come.
