Ray Robertson
Indy #S6
At first glance, it looked as though Ray might be out there to cheer on his kid playing in the league. But don't let the grey hairs confuse you, Ray came to play!
Hustling the entire game, encouraging his teammates, and having a great time, Ray was a shining star tonight. He held that pitching mound down and made some killer snags doing so. Now if only he can get that first pitch down... Ray, do that and you'll be unstoppable.
Cheers!

Brennan Justice
Long Hair Don't Care!
Brennan joined us this week and he surely didn't disappoint.. Stepping up to the plate, he provided the dirt with his patented double tap. And even though he stands on the wrong side of the plate (silly lefties), he never succumbed to the pressure of the fans calling for big, big hits. His first at bat was a bomb to right that cleared the bases for his first homer of the day. In his second at bat, the defense put on the super shift, placing all of their outfielders right of center field. Cleverly swinging his stick, Brennan blasted one to center and again cleared the bases for his second HR of the game.
Brennan is one cool cucumber. Can't wait to see what he has in store next week.
We weren't sure about killa Cam when the game first started; that giant fro at the plate was surely going to prevent us from seeing balls and strikes. But once the game got rocking, Cameron played the catcher position to perfection. Only one ball got by him, and that's what us umps love: to feel safe and secure behind a big, beautiful man fro. Now if only those balls weren't so dead. Cameron, next time we will use the yellow balls and you might get one out of the infield. ;)
Cheers!
Brennan showed one of the best plays I've seen of sportsmanship, he smacked a ball way over all of the outfielders that was a homer no doubt! But as he was rounding third he was behind one of his players and called them back to third before he went past because she had missed the base, even though no one had seen it. With that happening she had to go back, touch third, then head home and he ended up having to stay at third rather than completing the home run. Great teammate and sportsman for calling his own teammate on the miss of third. I love seeing stuff like this and can't wait to see Brennan back out on the field again, nice work!!
Steven is the all around MVP of the night for both offense and defense! The things he was able to accomplish on the field were pretty cool to watch tonight. Multiple diving stops at shortstop and jumping up to get the out at first. Then he comes to the plate and smacks some hard balls each time he came up to bat. Very good plays of the night and you can tell that he is just having fun with it and doing the best he can. Keep up the great work Steven!

Carson Moran
Result
This game was circled on all of the players' calendars as soon as the schedule was released back in early June...two teams that work hand in hand and share a common goal during the day, yet at a drop of a dime compete at the highest level on the softball field. Bragging rights, pride & a very interesting "trophy" was on the line between Clear & Result, two teams that came ready to play (and talk a little bit of smack) in a game that didn't disappoint the large crowd gathered on this fine night for softball.
With team Clear building an early 7-2 lead in the game, it appeared to many that the pressure may be too much for team Result. Not a chance in this game, with Result getting hot at the plate in the middle innings and pulling within striking distance. Time was running out, 15-15 going into the bottom of the last inning...it was time for someone to make a statement. Carson Moran did just that and then some, leading off the inning with a blast of a walk-off home run, sealing a hard fought victory and ensuring they would be the talk of the office for months to come.

Eudora Blair
Result
The 7:30pm game at Irving Park on Monday was a battle all game long between Result and Indy team #S6, two teams that came ready to play from the first pitch. Some fine defense was on display by both teams all game long, keeping both teams within striking distance until the last inning. Leading the charge for team Result was Eudaora Blair, a natural at 2nd base who held down the #4 position with some fine defensive grabs and timely outs with the help of her shortstop partner. With momentum swinging and nursing a slim 19-14 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning, Eudora continued her fine play at 2nd, covering the bag quickly to record the final out of a very entertaining game on this fine evening for Underdog softball.
Not only was Matt and offensive machine hitting two grand-slams in a row, he also made some solid catches in the outfield. He turned it up a little bit for this game and he had his 95 year old Grandpa there watching him and cheering him on. With his Grandpa their watching in the stand Matt was able to help lead his team to an awesome opening round victory of the playoffs. Not only was his grandpa their to be his biggest fan, rumor has it that Matt, his grandfather and maybe even a few teammates were going out for a beer together after the game to celebrate their victory. Great job making your Grandpa proud!
The 6:00pm playoff game had all of the makings of a blowout after the 2nd inning, with team Result putting up an eight spot in their half of the inning and taking a commanding 10-2 over Therminators at Irving Park on Wednesday evening. Yet this was team Therminators, a veteran team on the Underdog softball circuit who has a history of never throwing in the towel, regardless of the score. Some deep soul searching, a meeting of the minds in the outfield & Patrick getting into his groove on the mound was just what they needed to get themselves back into the game.
Leading the charge was Scott Walker, a player whose confidence grew as the game went on. A solo home run in the 5th inning and a clutch defensive grab at first base on a line drive kept the momentum on Therminators side, eventually leading to an impressive 18-13 come from behind victory over a quality opponent and one step closer to a summer league championship.
This is a special POTW for Energy 350 and Mike, the team was playing for there president of Energy 350 who was out tonight. Mike is a classy guy on the field that just likes to be out there for the fun of the game no matter the outcome. Other than being a classy act, Mike also hit some dingers today and played great in the field, all the best to Energy 350, there president, and the upcoming season, great job!
