Not sure which was better....the catch or the post catch celebration. Both were equally awesome and made Meghan the no brainer choice for player of the week. Great job out there and keep up the excitement.

...Cause you're the best, around! Nothing's ever going to bring you down...you're the best, around! Josh was the linch pin to a very potent Babes attack tonight and more than held his own in the field. Just an all around great performance from one of Underdog's finest.

Ro-Sham-Bo
On a rain soaked evening playing in the grass at Montavilla, a round of applause needs to go out to all four teams. Every team had players worthy of player of the week honors...just catching the ball was a feat all in itself. Way to go VIPness, Ro-Sham-Bo, Menance To Sobriety and Winners, Losers and Boozers for making a foul weather night into a fantastic evening of fun kickball.

Winners. Losers. And Boozers.
Winners, Losers and Boozers came to play Monday night. A potent lineup with no gaps to speak of put 22 runs on the board, and was backed up by a spectacular defensive showing. Extra POTW honors to the ladies of Boozers' for doing away with the bunts after the score got out of hand and coming up with some monster hits. All around great effort, great sportsmanship, great game.

Rock Flag and Eagle
Inexperience and lack of team shirts didn't mean a thing to the patriots of Rock Flag and Eagle Wednesday night. In their first game of the season the team put on a defensive clinic, holding the first-rate Neverending Glory offense to just 1 run. Just imagine what these guys could do in proper uniform... I don't even want to think about it.

POTW: Ryan Cunningham
The Babes
Ryan made the amazing look routine - he was able to turn a sure fire base hit on a great lady bunt into a spectacular out...all without picking up the ball and throwing it. After the bunt was laid down, Ryan sprinted up from the pitcher's position and kicked the ball on a line to his first basemen getting the runner out by a half step. Ryan nearly repeated this feat later in the game, but the runner was able to barely beat the kick. Both plays were astounding...great job!!!

Pouncing off the mound all nimbly-bimbly, Peter made a defensive play for the ages. With a very solid bunt heading down the first base line, Peter sprinted over, dove, caught the ball on the bounce, and in mid air, tossed it to first to get the out. Jaw dropped, eyes popped out and in the distance a lone wolf howled in the night - all in awe of Peter's spectacular play.

Ballsonyas
Logan made one of the most spectacular plays in Underdog Kickball history. The ball was absolutely blasted to left field and was looking like a sure fire home run. Logan put his head down and sprinted back. At the last second, he put his arms out and made an amazing over the shoulder grab - Willie Mays style - to rob the kicker. Just outstanding.

An honorable mention goes out to Prarie Dog of Pitches Looking to Score, who caught a fly ball in his cowboy hat - what fun.

If I could make Cedar Underdog's Player of the Year for his magnificant display last night, I would. It would also take 1000 words to describe his get up. Imagine a really tall dude in full body pink tights with blue Captain America tighty whities over the top of the tights and rainbow socks. Now imagine this dude kicking, running the base paths and shagging fly balls. This was the highlight of the season, for sure.

Julie demonstrated a never say die attitude last night on the field and hustled her way into one of the finest catches this umpire has ever seen. It was a high fly ball in between second and right. As the second base person settled under the ball to make the catch, the lights must have got in his eyes. The ball blooped off his shoulder and looked for sure like it was going to hit the ground. Julie raced in and made a spectacular shoe string catch to get the out. Great Job!

Menace to Sobriety
The first game was a little rough, but thanks to a series of unexpected events Menace to Sobriety was offered a shot at redemption Wednesday night. And they redeemed it hard, so very hard. Round 2 of The Babes vs Menace was one hell of a pitcher's duel, but in the bottom of the 7th with no runs on either side, Ben hit a leadoff double to put Menace in prime position. The following play, on what should have been a bunt single, Ben made an aggressive turn at third and headed for home to put the game away. It was a bang bang play at home, but the umpire was in perfect position as always... Safe!! Menace wins the game! The win might not have counted in the scorebooks, but it will surely count in our hearts. Forever.

Ezra was a one man wrecking crew for VIPness, scoring the team's only run with style in the top of the 7th, while also putting on a defensive clinic. Ezra was grabbing balls left and right, contributed to a nice double play, and finished it off by cartwheeling his way across home plate. Way to get gymnastic in the face of adversity, Ezra.

Winners. Losers. And Boozers.
Trying to pick a player of the week after witnessing one of the greatest kickball games ever would be near impossible. The match between Winners Losers and Boozers and Rick Newberry and the Wolfpack was one for the ages. It took 10 innings to sort this one out with Winner Losers and Boozers coming out on top. The game was close the entire time. Each time Winner/Losers would forge ahead by a couple runs, Rick Newberry would storm back to tie it. The score stood at 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh and Rick Newberry was down to thier final out. A well placed bunt, aggresive base running and an awesome slide later we were tied at 6's. The eigth and ninth innings passed with no scoring until Neal Almasri blasted a home run in the top of the tenth to deep center to give Winners/Losers the lead at 6-5. Winners/Losers locked down on defense in the bottom of the 10th and put themselves in the championship game. Holy Cow, what a game!
