Late Fall Midcore Volleyball at St Charles Tuesdays

The gloves were off on Tuesday night at St. Charles in Midcore competition as Vitaliy Groz and his crew on CC7D got to work and absolutely fought to the finish vs. Premarital Sets. In three extremely entertaining sets, these two teams squared off in fierce competition, but none so fierce as Vitaliy. He scored point after point from service line with the most incredibly powerful trajectory that's rarely seen in rec competition. The ball seemed like it launched from a cannon with precision targeting. So tough for the defense to manage! And if that wasn't enough, Vitaliy knows what he's doing in the kill area with a ferocious attacking style. This might have been the match of the season with plenty of wow factor from both teams. We can't wait to see how the season shapes up for CC7D with Vitaliy in command of the ball!

Lead funny guy and Mr. Precise Chris Whytock of Shaggin Balls is always pretty neat and clean with his play. The underhand serves are just over net and land exactly as intended - check. The ups are perfectly timed - check. And his assists are set to where the attacker can cleanly slam it over the net - check. So this is why we salute Chris as POTW and Shaggin Balls's main man because he keeps the mood light, the competition intense and is always at the ready!

Rachel Stehly has a passion for volleyball and you can absolutely feel it watching her performance. She's on point for every dig and assist, and is especially effective at the net when she looks for the set and then delivers a smashing kill. Premarital Sets faced off CC7D on Tuesday night at St. Charles to prepare for the playoffs next week and Rachel was at the forefront of the effort. Whatever was needed, she was there and was absolutely a studette in the back row where nothing was out of range for her quick response. Despite losing the match to CC7D, Rachel made sure that Premarital Sets never lagged in intensity and made a huge case for the POTW honor!

Is Drew Edwards a man or beast? We think we saw the beast on Tuesday in the semifinals at St. Charles vs. CC7D. Drew came out with all cylinders firing in fierce competition against an opponent who also had a burning desire to advance to the finals. These two teams seriously battled especially at the net, where Drew went head to head against CC7D's front line who gave everything they had to dispel his barrage of offensive hits. He also took charge at mid to defend many powerful kills delivered by Vitaly and Vlad of CC7D. Drew kept his crew on their toes with powerful coaching calling out where the ball was going to fall. CC7D grabbed the first set, but Drew and his E! teammates regrouped after that. They came up with a plan to defend and attack in order to come out on top in games 2 and 3 which propelled them into the finals. Drew was definitely key to the energy and delivered a masterful performance!
