Late Fall Midcore Co-Ed Volleyball at Fernwood/Beverly Cleary Tuesdays

Heidi woke up this morning with a smile on her face. Not because it was her birthday, but because she had in mind that she was playing in the season opener for Underdog Volleyball. People congratulated her through out the day, but she had one thing in mind.....to play the sport that she loves so much.
Once she showed up on the court, her smile came shinning through. It was so big that it distracted her opponents in thinking shes not gonna hit it hard. And when she had the team under her spell, she would send a kill to the other side of the net.
Heidi not only had a huge smile on her face through out the game, but she displayed what a true Underdog Athlete is about. She showed her great sportsmanship giving out hugs to her team and opponents. All Heidi wanted for her birthday wish was to play and not to get hurt. She got both and she also got a birthday win. Congratulations to Heidi for celebrating your birthday with us as she gets the Player of the Week.

Don't hit it in her direction. Brittany Zander is such a volleyball junkie that if the ball is hit to her she will dig it within a 4 feet radius. She played like she drank a gallon of red bull because every now and then you would be able to catch a glimpse of her wings.
Her team would set her up and she would use those wings to fly to go an amazing 25 of 25 on spike attempts. She was flapping her wings all over the place and lead her team to a 2-1 victory.
She is a player not to be reckoned with but when it is all over she will be the 1st one to smile and shake your hand and for that she easily the player of the week. Congratulations.

Micah from Down N' Dirty Diggers came on to the court to have fun. It was that fun and competitiveness that carried on to his teammates and ultimately lead them to a 3-0 victory.
Micah was all over the place blocking everyone on the opposing team. He spiked the ball for a kill every time his team would set to him. He went on a serving spree during the match that crushed the hopes of making a run for the other team. After it was all said and done, his teammates said "Bam!"
Micah had fun with the team win, but it was his attitude that set him apart from everyone else. He displayed his true sportsmanship in the victory and all about smiles. It is that that we give him the player of the week award. Congratulations.

Lets face it, women make the world turn. This was the case in Tuesday's night game with IgoNoUgo vs Rose City Renegades.
Both teams played outstanding trying to advance in the playoffs. But it was all about the women for IgoNoUgo. While everyone was standing still and just watching the ball, the females of the team were the ones with the hustle plays that would've made ESPN's Sportscenter had we had a camera. They were the ones talking and keeping the spirits high for the team. All those women were the ones with the great serves that would strike aces on the others side. When the animosity was high, it was all about the women that cracked a joke and made everyone laugh.
It was nothing less than good times in this game and the women are the engine of that team. For being who they are, we give them a very special Players of the Week award. Congratulations.
