Over the course of this season the Sweaty Yeti's have developed quite a sound game plan which rarely changes regardless of the team that they line up against. They control the clock, they constantly switch it up between the ground and the air, and they never, ever, EVER punt.
As with every squad, the Sweaty Yeti's have their "go to" players but they'll show no discrimination when it comes to dishing out the rock. In other words, anybody wearing Yeti Yellow can have some.
In the first game of the night, a predominantly defensive player in Dave Gruetzner kept his defensive stats up with 2 picks but broke out of his "offensive shell" and made some great snags on offense, one in particular that put him in the end zone.
In the season finale, the always potent offense of the Muchas Smuchas struck quickly putting six on the board out of the gate. The Yeti's knew immediately that the MS weren't going to lay down and just hand over the CHAMP wristbands.
Both of these teams love to chew the clock, even so the Yeti's made sure to put their mark on the board and answered with a touchdown of their own.
The Smuchas launched an all-out aerial attack towards the end zone and kept putting points on the board. Without batting an eye, the Yeti's would strike back with long plays on the ground or the air to bounce back. The Yeti's would end up making a key fourth down stop and taking the lead well before the two-minute warning. However, come the final two minutes of the game the Sweaty Yeti's found themselves on defense with a 28-20 lead. It's not a bad thing to have the lead in these types of situations but it isn't so nice when it's the Muchas Smuchas squad that has the ball. The MS is a team known for finding the end zone when it matters most. Sure enough, with three seconds remaining the Smuchas did just that and their season now came down to one more play. A 2-PT conversion that could tie the game sending it into overtime or declare the Sweaty Yeti's Champions.
Well, you read the title, you know what happened....just joking, a deflected pass would end an awesome battle between two great teams as well as two well-played seasons. Congratulations to both teams for a two stellar team performances but in the end only one team can hold the top spot, Congrats to the SWEATY YETI'S our new UNDERDOG THURSDAY NIGHT FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS!
