The Syndicate overcame the rain, mud, and a resilient Pitch Please for the fall league title at Irving Park Sunday. As rain continuously soaked the field, The Syndicate hung tough, playing great defense and getting the timely hits needed to fend off rallies from Pabst Smear and Pitch Please. Derrick and Aaron hit two absolute nodoubtaboutit bombs into the neighbor's yard in left field, and Josh managed to avoid the sweet spot of opposing bats more often than not.
Despite their all-around effort, The Syndicate found themselves in a nail-biter in the last inning. Clinging to a three-run lead, they allowed Pitch Please to score a few in the bottom of the seventh. With two runners on base, Teran stepped in as the tying run for Pitch Please. He proceeded to crush a deep drive to right center. With the game on the line, Jackie made a tough catch to secure the victory for the Syndicate. Now THAT is how you remain cool under pressure with the 'chip at stake! Somewhere, Nelson Cruz is crying into his empty, championshipless hands. That's right, I haven't forgotten about you, 2011.
