Joseph Walker
Something Funny
Joe Walker was 1-1 on the day as the starting QB for the Something Funny Squad that played a double-header this Sunday. Running a skeleton crew due to scheduling conflicts, the quarterback bared much of the workload, using a strong-arm and some nifty scrambling to help his team even a midst a wardrobe malfunction that occurred when a defender got a little more than they bargained for when they went for Joe's flag. Either way, Joe played through it like a champ.
So congrats to Joe Walker, OUR SUNDAY MEN'S FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!

Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous
Team Alcoholics Anonymous came out with guns blazing. Executing on both sides of the ball AA spread the field and marched up and down the field like the Underdog pros they are. Led by their QB AA took control of this game early and never looked back. Their defense was operating on all cylinders and never relinquished the offense’s lead.

So congrats to Alcoholics Anonymous, OUR SUNDAY MEN'S FLAG FOOTBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK!

The Randy Leonards(Indy #1)
A teammate of Johnny Unitas was said that, "He (Unitas) never lost a game, time just ran out." Although The Randy Leonards did fall to a strong Something Funny team, Erich Holsten put in a solid, winning effort.
Holsten lined up in the QB position for this game and used a strong throwing arm and some nimble feet to put up 26 points for his squad.
Even in what was a shining performance, the RLs' defense couldn't stop the long ball of the Something Funny offense.
Until the bitter end, Holsten kept his team going. No harsh words were spoken, he just lined up, took the snap and kept his eyes on the endzone.
So Congrats to Erich Holsten, some people break in the line of fire while others flourish in the shoes of the Underdog, you chose the latter and that makes you our UNDERDOG MEN'S LEAGUE FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!

Mahers Pub
Mahers Pub
A Force to Be Reckoned With.
The Maher's Pub squad aren't newbies when it comes to football. By no means is the game foreign to them. TheY are however, new to the USL style of Flag Football play but their record would tell a different story. On Sunday, Maher's Pub was tested by a definite contender in the Something Funny team and the up-and-coming Randy Leonards. Playing a back-to-back doubeheader the odds may have seemed to be against them. Guided by the arm of Maher's Pub QB Kevin Maher, the MPs did not succumb to fatigue in two very close games that would blow wide open in the final minutes.
Kevin found sure hands in two clutch targets, Mark Maher and Stevie Hicks who both found their way into the endzone multiple times.
Maher's Pub's execution on offense was steady and their time clock management kept the game from spinning out of control. Their defense closed the iron curtain on the deep ball and opposing offenses had to earn their points a few yards at a time.
So Congrats to Maher's Pub, OUR SUNDAY MEN'S LEAGUE FLAG FOOTBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK!

If you don't watch Breaking Bad, you won't understand it, but team Better Call Saul was formulated by a some friends that are die hard Breaking Bad fans.
Breaking Bad fans equals good times on the football field. Better Call Saul had their double header on Sunday and despite dropping both games, they still had a good time and demanding for their tots from the sponsor bar.
Aside from playing on Sunday during the off season of Breaking Bad, they look forward to having a good time with Underdog and for that they are the Team of the Week. Congratulations and keep up the fun!

Shout Out
Sportsmanship
This week's TOTW goes out to the team that came to play in the rain and enjoy a Sunday with Underdog getting wet.
Even though there were two teams that played in the Men's Championship and both came out to spend time with USL, one team deserves a shout out.
Earlier in the season, this team found it really difficult playing by Underdog rules and quite a different style of playing football. This team is made up of good players and ended up adjusting their game to not only play by the rules but also make it to the final game.
Mahers Pub deserves big ups because of how they handled the league and the other teams. Once they were able to adjust their game play, they showed great sportsmanship week by week. They are a very talented team and win or lose they were the 1st to shake everyone's hands with a smile showing that they had a good time.
So congratulations to Mahers Pub as the Team of the Week. We hope to see them in the Late Fall league at Lewis and Clark, but either way, they deserve big ups!
