Hall Street Mafia
Hall Street Mafia
The new kids in town and ready to have fun
Hall Street Mafia was new to Underdog this season. They wanted some where to play and have a great time....well they came to the right place. Dressed in their best beach wear, they played some great volleyball.

While their first win didn't happen tonight, they made sure they they had a great time. Adjusting...and even sharing...their drink table to accommodate themselves and their opponents, they made sure they had a good time until close.

Looking forward to seeing this team work for the first win next week, I know they will be having a great time. And of course they will be dressed to the nines.

Welcome to Underdog, Hall St. Mafia!

The Dangerous Duo
The Dangerous Duo
we dig 4play
This week, the Southeast Sand Courts witnessed an epic duel between two of the strongest teams in the league. However, there was a catch- one of the teams only had two players! Jen and Bryan Danger were left alone to play Robert's Team in a battle to the exhaustion. Against all odds, the Dangers picked up the first set, winning 21-18. With some amazing diving saves and leaping spikes, both teams were working their hardest. After two more hard fought battles with amazingly close scores (15-21 and 17-21 for Robert's Team) the Dangers had left it all on the court, and their only words were to ask for a Gin and Tonic, please.

Congratulations to Jen and Bryan Danger, Players of the Week!

Battle of the Sexes Pt. II
Battle of the Sexes Pt. II
Hall St Mafia
Ever since Billie Jean King won the "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match against her male opponent in 1937, sports enthusiasts have known better than to bet against female athletes solely on the basis of their gender. However, it still stands that men are usually taller and somewhat springier than their female teammates, and so they usually come out victors at the volleyball net. This week, Natalie Dikus showed the SE courts what gender equality is really all about. In addition to displaying a variety of skills- hitting, setting, and a chilled out disposition, Natalie also had the play of the week when she went up at the net against a male opponent, blocking his spike and earning a point for her team. Great playing Natalie, you're our Player of the Week!

[Do] Call it a Comeback!
[Do] Call it a Comeback!
The Sandy Vs - Indy Team #64
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? This question was explored this week in the match up between The Sandy Vs and Hall St. Mafia. Hall St had an intense warm up session overseen by their miniature coach, who was later seen being pushed around in a stroller (diva). The Sandy Vs approached the game with their usual resolve, but ended up dropping the first two sets by tiny margins (20-22, 19-21). However, in the third set, The Sandy Vs orchestrated an epic comeback. With Jack's willingness to do anything to win, Patrick's diving saves, Ashley and Christie's solid hits, and Cameron's good energy and general tallness, the Sandy Vs are the perfect combination of skills, teamwork, and enthusiasm for Underdog Volleyball. Good job Sandy Vs, your third set comeback makes you our team of the week!

Andrew is what you would call a position player. He has a very specific and efficient skill set for Underdog volleyball. He first uses his easy going nature to lull opponents into a false sense of security. Then, he posts up at the net and manages to tip the ball just past the fingertips of the other team... every time. This skill, combined with insanely consistent serves makes Andrew our POTW! Keep it up!

The Sandy Vs
The Sandy Vs
There was no stopping The Sandy Vs tonight. They played as a team on the court with their bump, set, spike, as well as off the court keeping their biggest fan Sadie entertained.
The Sandy Vs won the first two sets in Game 1, lost the third. They moved on to the next round looking hot and depleted. The break between games was just enough that in Game 2 they got their Mojo back and won all three sets. Great night Sandy Vs!!
