BE Slammers
Opening day Underdog softball 2014 kicked off under a sun drenched field at Rose City Park on Sunday. Cleats were polished, gloves were freshly oiled from a longer winter hibernation and a few "I should have stretched more before the game" were heard throughout the day. The last game of the day between BE Slammers and Alpha Ecological Pest Control introduced everyone to Heather Ray, starting catcher for BE Slammers. Calling a solid game behind the plate and making sure the ball got back to the pitcher in her own unique way, Heather's quiet confidence and skills with the mit were on full display in the middle innings. A solid base hit by an AEPC player looked like a sure RBI with a runner on 2nd base, yet a dart thrown by the outfield to Heather at homeplate ruined the RBI party...rocket throw from center, sweet catch & tag out by Heather in a matter of seconds proved that she's a catcher to be reckoned with this season!

Sharon and Les were wonderful to have on the field. Great attitude and looked like they were having the most fun out of anyone today. Les was playing because one of their players didn't show, and he was their sub. He would constantly make jokes and laugh. I hope more of our players take after this very nice couple.

A sun drenched Rose City Park on Sunday was the perfect stage for the unveiling of the latest five tool player with Underdog softball. Carly Rodriquez's skills were on full display this afternoon. ...timely hit after timely hit, sweet diving catch and scoring runs like she's done it a few times in the past...Carly had the "it" factor today and was key to to a solid win by team Richardbat. Sunshine & Mother's Day...a great combination for some quality Underdog softball at Rose City Park on Sunday. Leading the charge for team Brian & Friends for two games was Lorna Porter, a veteran to Underdog softball who always seems to showcase her skills at just the right time. A hitting machine during both wins, Lorna displayed some serious defensive prowess at 3rd base with an amazing tiptoe stretch catch near the 3rd base dugout fence to squash a potential rally by the opposing team. Nice work Lorna...your domination of the hot corner was admired by all who witnessed on a great day for Underdog softball.

Anna McCullough
Anna McCullough
Redline
Anna had team Redline playing to the redline all game. She got her 2nd hit of the season, an RBI single that kicked off a big run for Redline. She didn't stop there, adding her 2nd hit of the game in her next at bat. Just to keep it exciting, she added another later to greatly improve her batting average and possibly move her up in the batting order for the next game. Please Redline, she deserves to be moved up in the order!!! Great job Anna!

Mr. Mustachio
"richard" bat
Mr. Mustachio showed up in his pink, loud and proud. He stayed true to the 10 commandments of dickbat and made the west coast franchise proud. Thank you Mr. Mustachio for your motivation to play through what may have been the sloppiest day of Underdog softball to date. Mr. Mustachio, you lives in each of us, and we saw glimpses of you in the smiling faces of people at Rose City park on Sunday.
